Identification Process
TAG Identification
- Nomination / Referral made by Teacher, Parent, or student to the building TAG Advocate
- Data is collected from multiple sources which may include but not limited to:
- Review academic records and work samples
- Observations and feedback from teachers and/or parents
- Collected data reviewed by school staff shows consistent performance above that of grade level peers (95th percentile) in one or more areas. Standardized scores are supported by work samples and/or observations.
- TAG Advocate completes identification paperwork which is reviewed for approval by the district TAG Coordinator.
- Parents are notified of TAG identification.
*Students displaying inconsistent or limited data may be added to a TAG Watch List for continued monitoring.
*Studetns who score in the top 5% in both math and reading on multiple standardaized assessments and CoGAT are further screened to see if they qualify for the Challenge Magnet Program.
